How to Use 3DFixy & 3DFixy+ /Gel Formula

What makes our product different and Why It's Better:

3DFixy and 3DFixy+ are adhesives for 3D printing on FDM printers. The main advantage of our product lies in the combination ofhigh technological product with a high ecological standard. In addition to excellent adhesive properties, the product is made entirely from non-toxic components that pose no risk to the environment or the user. It contains no volatile organic compounds and is completely water-based.

3DFixy and 3DFixy+ / Gel Formula have variable surface energy that depends on temperature. This means that once the printer's build plate cools down, the printed object can be removed almost effortlessly.

The difference between 3DFixy and 3DFixy+ / Gel Formula is that 3DFixy+ is specially designed to offer even better adhesion to more challenging plastics with high shrinkage, such as ABS and ASA, especially for complex geometries and larger parts.

What Makes Professional 3D Printing Adhesives Different from Regular Glues:

Professional 3D printing adhesives differ from ordinary ones in that they are thermo-active. Thermo-active adhesives like 3DFixy and 3DFixy+ have surface energy that changes with temperature. At room temperature, their surface energy is very low, and they cannot form a strong bond with the printed object. However, as the temperature increases, their surface energy also increases proportionally.

This means these adhesives start bonding only when heated to a specific temperature. During printing, the bed temperature can range between 50°C and 120°C depending on the filament used. Only after heating can the adhesive form a bond with the plastic being printed, and the higher the temperature, the stronger the adhesion. After printing, when the bed cools down to room temperature, the surface energy drops again and the adhesion is released. This allows for very easy removal of the printed object. Sometimes, the part even detaches completely and can simply be picked up.

Due to these unique properties, professional 3D printing adhesives are in a class of their own and cannot be effectively replaced with regular glues.

How to Use 3DFixy & 3DFixy+:

  • Shake well before use.
  • Ensure the bed temperature is below 50°C before applying EkoFixy.
  • You can begin heating the bed immediately after application (before the glue dries) to save time and speed up drying.
  • After printing, wait until the bed cools below 30°C to easily remove the print.
  • Cleaning 3DFixy from the bed is done with clean water; dish soap can also be used.

Properties:

  • 3DFixy is water-based and contains no volatile organic compounds. It uses biodegradable and non-toxic polymers and is environmentally friendly.
  • It is non-flammable and emits no harmful fumes, even when the bed is heated.
  • Suitable for materials like PLA, PETG, ASA, TPU, ABS, etc.
  • The model detaches easily after printing (once the bed cools).
  • Easy to clean – fully water-soluble, no solvents needed.

Adhesion Based on Bed Temperature:

  • Below 40°C: Low adhesion – parts may detach.
  • 60–70°C: Medium adhesion – suitable for simple geometries.
  • 70–95°C: High adhesion – for complex geometries and long prints.
  • Above 95°C: Very high adhesion – for very complex and long prints.

Recommended Bed Temperatures by Material:

  • PLA: 55–65°C
  • PETG: 60–70°C
  • ABS: 90–110°C
  • ASA: 90–110°C
  • TPU: 45–50°C

Usage Instructions:

  • Apply glue to the center and four corners of the clean printer bed, then spread it evenly with a small brush.
  • To speed up drying, heat the bed to 50–60°C. The glue dries slower because it is water-based and contains no solvents other than water.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store 3DFixy at temperatures between 0°C and 50°C. Below -5°C, it freezes. If this happens, let it warm up until it returns to liquid form – it can then be used again.
